Space (taken from Sensitive Walking)

Don’t box me in
With no time
To spread
My individualistic wings
Or sing
My solitary songs of worship
Or tease out
Yesterday’s tangled ball,
Tightly wrapped string
Of compacted events.
I will seize the space
To work them loose
Finding fond fulfilment
As I do;
Don’t box me in.

Christmas Holidays (taken from Sensitive Path)

Coming down,
Needing to calm
My over-sensitised self
Down,
Down
Down
From high hilarity
Bright, vivacious exchange
To solitude’s peace,
Re-setting myself
To stillness,
The ticking of the clock,
The otherwise subduing
Of a retiring household
Enfolded in quietness;
Don’t speak to me.
Let me relax
To meet my tiredness,
Slowing internally
And
Switching
Off.
